X Trench Run is an endless arcade flying game. Your X-winged starfighter races down a space-station trench while walls with narrow openings rush at you. Steer up, down, left, and right to slip through, blast the pillars of laser gates and the turrets shooting at you, grab power-ups, and survive the boss. One clean hit ends the run — so every metre counts.

How to play X Trench Run
X Trench Run is a game of reading ahead. Spot the opening, steer into it before the wall arrives, and keep your cannons firing at everything that fires back.

Launch into the trench
Press Launch (or Space) and your X-winged starfighter drops into an endless space-station trench. It flies forward on its own — your job is to steer it up, down, left, and right across the trench and keep it alive.

Fly through the gaps
Solid walls rush towards you, each with one or two openings outlined in cyan. Line your ship up with an opening before the wall arrives and you pass through for +1 point. Clip the edge and the run is over.

Shoot what shoots back
Laser gates seal the trench with red beams until you destroy one of their amber pillars at the trench walls (+5). Turrets on the floor and walls fire at you; two hits destroy one (+5). Hold fire and steer your cannons onto the target.

Survive the boss, go faster
Every so often the walls stop and a boss ship takes their place, weaving across the trench and lobbing fireballs. Dodge and keep firing to win +50. Then the trench comes back — faster than before.
Tips to fly further
- Look past the nearest wall. Openings are visible from far away, so start drifting towards the next gap early.
- Return to the middle of the trench after each gap — the centre is the shortest move to any opening.
- Laser gate pillars sit against the side walls. Slide to that side so your nearer cannon lines up with the pillar.
- Destroy turrets while they are still far away; their light turns red right before they fire.
- Keep firing almost all the time. Shots that miss cost nothing, and a lot of turrets die to stray fire.
- Save Speed Down for later in the run — the slowdown is worth far more when the trench is fast.
- During the boss, keep moving sideways. Fireballs are aimed at where you are, not where you are going.

What are the controls?
On a keyboard, steer with the arrow keys or W, A, S, D and hold Space to fire; you can also hold the left mouse button to fire. P or Esc pauses, R restarts, F toggles auto-fire, and M mutes. On a phone or tablet, drag anywhere on the flight view to steer and hold the round fire button, or turn on auto-fire.
How does scoring work?
You earn 1 point for every wall you fly through (or smash with Wall Destroyer), 5 points for every turret you destroy, 5 points for every laser gate you disable, and 50 points for every boss you defeat. Distance flown is tracked separately in metres.
How do I get past a laser gate?
You cannot fly through the red beams. Shoot one of the two amber pillars at the sides of the trench — each lit square on a pillar is one hit left. When either pillar is destroyed the beams switch off and you can pass, scoring +5. Fly close to the side you are targeting so your cannon lines up.
What do the power-ups do?
Glowing orbs float in the trench; fly through one to collect it. S (Shield) absorbs one hit. W (Wall Destroyer) shatters every wall ahead for seven seconds, still scoring each one. T (Speed Down) slows the trench for six seconds.
How do I beat the boss?
The boss parks ahead of you and weaves across the trench while firing fireballs aimed at your position. Keep moving sideways so shots land where you were, keep firing, and follow its path rather than its current position. Each boss you defeat is worth 50 points, and the next one has more health and fires more often.
How do I get a higher score?
Steer early towards openings you can already see, return to the centre between walls, and fire almost constantly so turrets die before they shoot. Disable every laser gate for the +5, and save Speed Down for the fast late game. Bosses are the big points: surviving one is worth fifty walls.
Does the game save my best score?
Yes. Your best score, best distance, longest flight, number of runs, and lifetime totals of walls, turrets, gates, and bosses are saved in your browser’s local storage, along with your sound and auto-fire settings. Nothing is sent to a server, so a different device, browser profile, or cleared site data starts fresh.
